A small update, with a side of fries

 Good heavans. I'm doing an appalling job of living up to my origial promise of 2 posts a week. I guess in the world of vintage computing there isn't much in the way of news.

For one, I would like to belatedly congratulate Ron Wiesen for his recent win of the 27th Model 100 Programming Contest with his amazing program.

Secondly there's a rather major development that recently happened: I got my server up and running.
Currently, the server is a 500MHz Pentium III running Windows XP SP3, and can be found at retro-net.ath.cx, which brings me to the name: The Micro 100 Retro-Box Network, shortened/styallized simply as [..RETRONET..] . I have HTTP, FTP, IRC, and a Quake I dedicated server. It's pretty slow to load images, but I'll be upgrading it soon (hopefully), as well as adding a Synchronet telnet BBS (perhaps the failed Nytetyme project could live on), getting my domain set up (retro-box.net), and setting up an email server with username@retro-box.net.

The way that affects this blog is that it will be a little more varied, with some modern computers stuff as well as some older computer stuff, and links to my youtube videos at RetroNetVideos.

Name change!

Well, after not putting out an issue for over a year, I've decided to cancel the magazine.

At least I lasted longer than Bitchin100!

Whoops!

Hmmm... been over a year since I updated. I browsed my Google Analytics page on this site, and it appears that over half of my hits are bots (figures).

Also, someone has viewed this page three times with an 8-bit color resolution. Umm... Someone with a Commodore 64 has seen my page? That'd be interesting.

Also 13 referrals from a nonexistant site. Very odd, Watson.

Anyway, the Model 100 programming contest is underway, with the deadline sometime in early 2010, and I have no idea what I'm going to do. Thinking I might do a WarDialing program, just because of my fascination with WarGames.

Recent Site Updates

Here's a list of recent changes that I've made to this website:

1. Removed the blogger navbar, you can still search using the "search" box, looks better.
2. Made the scrollbars red. I dunno, I just like red scrollbars.
3. Got Google Analytics, might post site stats every once in a while.
4. Got popular. Fort Apocalypse has given me a little bump ahead. Nice to know that someone actually reads this website... I think he'll enjoy my next post. (http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=139968)

I haven't been able to secure NiteTyme BBS, so I'm going to drop it for now. However, MICRO 100 will continue.

MICRO 100 Magazine Blog Now Online!

The MICRO 100 Magazine and NiteTyme BBS Blog is now online! I decided to open up early in the spirit of Christmas. I have the bitmapped color version of the logo completed, and I think that it looks good! I will be archiving all issues of Micro 100 here, as well as making posts about the progress of the BBS and Magazine, so check back often!
