Friend: "My DVD-ROM can't read my DVDs."
Me: "Is the disk scratched? Is it in the drive correctly?"
Friend: "I'm not stupid. I know all that."
Me: "Can it read regular CDs?"
Friend: "Yes."
Me: "It is a DVD-ROM drive, right?"
Friend: "Well, it's a CD-ROM drive, but it's a 48x CD-ROM drive, and DVD-ROMs only go up to 10x, so it must be fast enough."
